Privacy Policy for Kikukuma Diary (きくクマ日記)

The Author sets forth this Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) with regard to the treatment of users’ information, including but not limited to personal information, during the performance of services provided by the App (the “Service”), as follows;

1 User’s Information to be Collected and Method of Collection

For purposes of this Policy, “User’s Information” means information that identifies users, history of actions on communication services and other information created or accumulated in relation to user or users’ devices, which shall be collected by the Author pursuant to this Policy. Depending on the method of collection, the User’s Information that the Service may collect for a user to use the Services includes:

  • Information provided by the user: name and email addresses (if registered).
  • Information collected by the App: log information, device information, and usage statistics.
  • Information from integrated services: data from Apple HealthKit (if permitted by the user).

2 Purpose of Use

The purpose of the User’s Information for the provision of the Service includes the following:

  • Provision, maintenance, protection, and improvement of the Services, including diary transcription, synchronization, and backup.
  • Guidance or response to inquiries relating to the Services.
  • Addressing a violation of rules, regulations or policies relating to the Services.
  • Notice of any modification to the rules and other purposes incidental to the foregoing.

3 Method of Notice, Publication and Permission; Method of Discontinuance of the Use

The user’s permission must be obtained before collecting/accessing the following User’s Information:

  • Microphone: For voice-to-text diary dictation.
  • Photos: For attaching images to diary entries.
  • Location Information: For recording where diary entries were created.
  • HealthKit: For integrating health and activity data into your diary.
  • Biometric Authentication: (Face ID/Touch ID) Used locally on the device for app security; the App does not collect or store biometric data.

If the user specifies a certain setting, the user is entitled to require the App to discontinue the use of any or all of the User’s Information.

4 Outside Transmissions; Provision to Third Parties; Information Collection Modules

To provide and improve our service, we use the following information collection modules:

  • Google Firebase (Analytics, Firestore, Auth, Crashlytics): Used for app functionality, authentication, data synchronization, and analyzing usage to improve the service.

5 Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

Unless required by applicable laws and regulations, the Author shall not provide to any third party personal information contained in the User’s Information without the prior consent of the user, except for necessary service operations (e.g., cloud storage providers) or legal requirements.

6 Family Watch Feature

The “Family Watch” feature allows users to share their diary content with authorized family members. This sharing is only initiated and controlled by the user. Users can revoke access at any time through the app settings.

7 Disclosure, Correction, and Suspension of Use

Users can request the disclosure, correction, or deletion of their personal information by contacting us through the inquiry form in the App. We will conduct an investigation and respond promptly after confirming the identity of the requester.

8 Inquiries

Any suggestions, questions, complaints, or other inquiries on the handling of the User’s Information must be submitted to the Author through the inquiry form in the App.

9 Procedure to Amend this Privacy Policy

The Author shall from time to time review how the User’s Information is being handled and make modifications to this Privacy Policy as necessary. Any significant modification will be notified through the App or our website.
